Airfare
Some Faculty-Led programs include a group flight, and some students with financial need book through UNL's Airfare Assistance Program (AAP). Otherwise, students purchase their own airfare directly, from the airline or through a trusted travel agency or online platform. Fox World Travel is the designated travel agency for the University of Nebraska. Student travel agencies, such as Student Universe, can also be a good option to explore for student discounts.

Rail Passes
Train travel in many countries is a popular and efficient way to get around. A railpass can save you money by offering unlimited travel for specific time periods. In some cases, rail passes can only be purchased in the U.S. prior to departure.
Rideshare (Uber, Lyft, and Similar Services)
Rideshare services such as Uber and Lyft can be convenient transportation options in many destinations. Before entering a vehicle, always verify that the car, license plate number, make/model, and driver information match the details displayed in your app. Never enter a vehicle if the information does not match.
Additional safety tips:
- Wait for your ride in a well-lit, public location.
- Ask the driver who they are picking up rather than providing your name first.
- Share your trip status with a friend or family member when available.
- Sit in the back seat whenever possible.
- Trust your instincts. If something feels unsafe, cancel the ride and find an alternative transportation option.
Always Check the Plate
Before getting into any rideshare vehicle, confirm:
✅ Driver name
✅ Vehicle make and model
✅ License plate number
✅ Trip details in the app
If any information does not match, do not enter the vehicle and report the issue through the rideshare app.
