My Background
Renae is the CAS Global Experiences Coordinator. She works closely with CAS students, faculty and staff. Before joining the Global Experiences Office in September of 2022, Renae had a career working in nonprofits. Renae worked for 7 years at Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska, where she led programs to the United Nations Headquarters in New York City, Japan, and Europe. She also spearheaded multiple global projects there, and generally finds herself in global settings whererever she goes. Renae has a show on Lincoln's independent community radio station 89.3FM KZUM. You can hear playing music from around the world on Friday mornings from 8-10am. Renae will always be happy to talk about music from around the world and talk through your uncomfortable cross-cultural experiences.
My Study/Work Abroad
Renae taught English in South Korea for a year in her 20s, which kickstarted her passion for global issues and her interested in cross-cultural communication and cultural intelligence. In all of her jobs. Renae is an advocate for building cultural intelligence skills both abroad and at home, having worked with people from over 30 different countries in her career.
![]() Purpose: Having lived abroad and worked with refugees and immigrants in my home community, I know how powerful it can be to connect cross-culturally. I want to support students to have that experience for themselves. |
My Ideal Next Travel Destination
I would love to travel to Uzbekistan and Ghana. I would love to return to South Korea some day.
