Global Experiences Photo Contest
The purpose of this contest is to recognize individuals who have taken exceptional photographs while participating in programs abroad and on campus! The Global Experiences Office wants to reinforce the value and unique learning opportunities that exist on global experiences. Entries may be displayed on the Global Experiences website, social media (Instagram), marketing materials for the office and in a hallway in Louise Pound Hall. The Photo Contest will begin accepting photos in January 2026 and the deadline to submit a photo is Sunday, February 15, 2026, at 11:59PM!

Contest Categories
1. "Huskers Go Global!" - Show the world you are a Husker! The subject in this category should be wearing Nebraska attire or demonstrating Husker spirit while abroad. We are looking for Huskers learning abroad and participating in academic experiences abroad with Husker gear! Show us you are an Ambassador for the University of Nebraska ... abroad!
2. "The World is my Classroom" - Where and what did you learn? Show us your classroom experience, program excursions, site visits, cultural visits or opportunities to develop your language skills! We are looking for students that are engaged in learning activities abroad!
3. "Landscapes" - Share photos of cities, parks, rural areas, trees, animals, deserts, oceans, lakes, beaches, mountains, etc.! Landscape photos preferred. What was the environment like around you while abroad?
4. "Global at Nebraska" - Students engaged in events or student organizations with a global focus here on campus! We are looking for global learning on campus or within Lincoln! Who are learning from about global communities? Did you attend an event on campus? Are you taking a course with a global focus? Share it with us!
Contest Rules
- Students must have participated in a global experience, event on campus, course on campus or study abroad program during the Fall 2024, Academic Year 2024-2025, Spring 2025, Fall 2025, Summer 2025, Winter 2025 and Winter 2026.
- Students can enter up to three total photos for consideration in categories #1-4.
- All entries must be photographs taken by the participant and must be the work of the person submitting the photo. Additionally, all subjects within the photo must have given the photographer explicit permission to be photographed.
- All entries must be submitted digitally by 11:59pm on Sunday, February 15, 2026.
- Judging will be conducted by selected UNL staff and faculty members. Entries will be evaluated on appeal, content, and presentation of the education abroad experience. A winner in each category will be chosen by the committee.
Details:
1. Please submit your photos here (link coming soon - in January 2026!)
2. Each photo submission must have the following information: Student Name, NUID, photo location (country, campus location, etc.), and category (#1-4 above).
3. The first prize winner from each category will have their photo on display in Louise Pound Hall Global Affairs unit for the Spring Semester 2026 and will also receive a Huskers t-shirt and water bottle! The second and third place winners will also receive a Husker t-shirt and small gift.
4. The contest winners will be shared on Monday, February 23, 2026 - Study Abroad Day!
Category #5: "Go Abroad Again!" Win a scholarship!
Tell the campus community why students should go abroad! What did you learn in your classes? What did you learn about yourself? What skills did you develop that will be assets in your career? Include your favorite photo (1) and no more than 200 words about your experience. We will highlight you on Instagram and should you want to go abroad again, we will award you with a scholarship!

Second Place Winner: $1,500 Scholarship

Students must go abroad on an approved, university sponsored program to receive the scholarship. Students will receive the funds in the same term as the program abroad.
