Global Experiences Photo Contest

The purpose of this contest is to recognize individuals who have taken exceptional photographs while participating in programs abroad and to publicize the importance of the Global Experiences programs. Entries may be displayed on the Global Experiences website, social media (Instagram), and other marketing materials. The Photo Contest will begin in December 2025 and the deadline to submit a photo is Monday, February 16, 2026!

Contest Categories

1. "Huskers Go Global!" - Show the world you are a Husker! The subject in this category should be wearing UNL attire or demonstrating Husker spirit.

Portugal

2. "The World is my Classroom" - What did learning look like in your program? Show us your classroom, learning activities, faculty teaching, or class trips.

Japan

3. "#Artsy" - Opportunity to express creativity.

Amsterdam

4. "Global at Nebraska" - Students engaged in events or student organizations with a global focus here on campus!

Contest Rules

  1. Students must have participated in a global experience or study abroad program during the Fall 2024, Academic Year 2024-2025, Spring 2025, Fall 2025, Summer 2025 and Winter 2025.
  2. Students can enter up to three total photos
  3. All entries must be photographs taken by the global experience participant while on program and must be the work of the person submitting the photo. Additionally, all subjects within the photo must have given the photographer explicit permission to be photographed.
  4. All entries must be submitted digitally by 11:59pm on Thursday, February 16, 2026.
  5. Judging will be conducted by selected UNL staff and faculty members. Entries will be evaluated on appeal, content, and presentation of the education abroad experience. A winner in each category will be chosen by the committee.


Details:

1. Please submit your photos to globalexperiences@unl.edu. 
2. Each photo submission must have the following information: Student Name, NUID, photo location (country, campus location, etc.), and category (#1-4 above). 
3. The contest winner for each category will have their photo on display in Louise Pound Hall Global Affairs unit for the Spring Semester 2026 and receive a $15 gift card to the UNL Bookstore.
4. The contest winner will be shared on Monday, February 23, 2026 - Study Abroad Day!
