Ann started teaching a one-room schoolhouse where some of her students were migrant workers’ children. She then taught reading skills to second language learners and minorities who were struggling with reading in English in the Omaha Public School system. She moved to Lincoln and taught reading and writing skills at Southeast Community College. She has been teaching in the PIESL program at UNL since 2006.
