Mission
Programs in English as a Second Language (PIESL) empowers non-native speakers of English to become proficient in the language through rigorous and innovative curricula. The department fosters an inclusive learning environment while assisting students in adjusting to U.S. culture; supporting international initiatives of the university; and offering customized programming to support the needs of campus and global partners.

We specialize in helping international students meet the University of Nebraska English requirement for admission to both undergraduate and graduate programs. We also provide several options to help any non-native speaker improve their language ability for both academic and non-academic purposes. We welcome participants from all over the world to join us on our beautiful campus located in downtown Lincoln, Nebraska.
