Center for Academic Success and Transition (CAST)
CAST helps students succeed at UNL by offering free tutoring, academic coaching, peer mentoring, and first-year programs like POWER and First Husker. CAST coaches support skills like time management, study strategies, goal setting, and test prep in an environment where students can build confidence and connect with helpful resources.
Writing Center
The Writing Center offers free, one-on-one support for all types of writing, from essays and lab reports to cover letters and theses. Trained consultants help with every stage of the writing process, from brainstorming to final edits. More than just proofreading, they work with you to build writing skills and confidence in an inclusive, supportive environment.
Office of Graduate Studies
The Office of Graduate Studies oversees graduate programs at UNL and supports students from admission through graduation. It offers resources like professional development, teaching support, workshops, and career guidance to help graduate students succeed in academic and non-academic careers.
Academic Advising
Academic advisors help you choose courses, explore majors, and plan your degree to meet your goals. They also connect you to opportunities like study abroad, research, and internships. Each college has its own advising team, with specialized support for exploratory students, pre-professional tracks, honors students, and student-athletes.
Programs in English as a Second Language (PIESL)
PIESL helps non-native English speakers improve their language skills and succeed at UNL. The program offers intensive English courses, credit-bearing ESL classes, and customized support to help students meet language requirements, adjust to U.S. culture, and reach academic or professional goals.
Career Services
Career Services helps students explore career paths, build job skills, and connect with employers. Services include résumé and cover letter help, interview prep, job and internship search strategies, career fairs, and one-on-one coaching, all designed to support your career journey from college to beyond.
Health, Safety & Well-Being
University Health Center
The University Health Center provides convenient, affordable health care for students, including medical, dental, mental health, physical therapy, pharmacy services, and wellness education. Operated by Nebraska Medicine, it’s your on-campus resource for comprehensive, student-centered care.
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)
CAPS offers free mental health support, including individual and group counseling, crisis care, and 24/7 urgent support. Licensed counselors help students manage stress, relationships, and other challenges to support emotional well-being and academic success.
Couple and Family Clinic
The Couple and Family Clinic offers affordable, confidential therapy for individuals, couples, and families facing issues like anxiety, relationship stress, and trauma. Services are provided by graduate students under supervision and are available both in person and via telehealth.
Well-Being Collective
The Well-Being Collective supports your personal and academic growth through resources like peer listening, well-being coaching, and stress management programs. Based on a holistic eight-dimension model, it helps you thrive emotionally, socially, and physically at UNL.
Financial Well-Being
Student Financial Well-Being offers confidential one-on-one coaching to help you budget, manage debt, build credit, and prepare for life after college. You’ll also have access to free online tools and workshops to boost your financial confidence and reduce stress related to money.
Campus Recreation
Campus Rec provides state-of-the-art facilities, group fitness classes, intramural sports, outdoor adventures, and wellness programs to help you stay active and healthy. Whether you're working out, playing sports, or renting gear, it’s a great place to connect and build lifelong wellness habits.
Center for Advocacy, Response & Education (CARE)
CARE offers confidential support for students affected by sexual assault, relationship violence, stalking, or harassment. Advocates help with safety planning, medical care, reporting options, and academic support. CARE also leads campus workshops on consent, bystander intervention, and healthy relationships.
UNL Police Department
The UNL Police Department keeps campus safe through emergency response, crime prevention, safety escorts (Husker Safe Walk), and community outreach. Officers are available 24/7 and work closely with students and staff to create a secure and supportive campus environment.

Student Leadership, Involvement, & Community Engagement (SLICE)
SLICE helps you get involved on campus through events, leadership opportunities, and 550+ student organizations. Whether you're building skills, making friends, or giving back to the community, SLICE encourages you to “Show Up, Sign Up, and Level Up” your Husker experience.
Gender and Sexuality Center (GSC)
The GSC offers inclusive programming, events, and resources to support students of all gender identities and sexual orientations. From the Lavender Closet to identity-affirming events and peer support for students with children, the GSC fosters community, empowerment, and social justice on campus.
Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center (JGMC)
The JGMC is a welcoming space for all students to connect across cultures, find community, and get involved with diversity-focused programs. It hosts cultural events, student organizations, and academic support—all to promote inclusion and empower every Husker.
Kawasaki Reading Room
The Kawasaki Reading Room is a peaceful space for exploring Japanese culture through books, films, and events like language tutoring, crafts, and tea ceremonies. It’s open to everyone interested in learning more about Japan and fostering cross-cultural understanding.
Husker Pantry
Husker Pantry provides free food, hygiene items, and personal care products to any enrolled student in need. With easy online ordering and convenient pickup, the pantry helps reduce financial stress so students can focus on their education.

Student Advocacy and Support (SAS) offers one-on-one case management for students facing personal, academic, or financial challenges. Whether it’s a housing issue, medical withdrawal, or other concern, they help you navigate resources, policies, and next steps so you can stay on track.

Husker Hub is your one-stop shop for help with financial aid, scholarships, billing, registration, transcripts, and more. Student services specialists are available to guide you through important tasks so you can focus on your studies.
Student Legal Services (SLS)
SLS offers free, confidential legal advice and limited representation for students dealing with issues like traffic violations, landlord disputes, small claims, and name changes. Staffed by licensed attorneys, SLS can also provide referrals for more serious legal matters.
HuskerTech
HuskerTech supports students with tech help for Wi-Fi, email, software, and device troubleshooting. They also offer laptop checkout, discounted tech products, and guidance on cybersecurity and digital tools to keep you connected and successful in your classes.
Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD)
SSD provides accommodations and support for students with disabilities, chronic health conditions, or temporary injuries. They work with you one-on-one to ensure equal access to classes, programs, and campus life.
Institutional Equity and Compliance (IEC)
IEC promotes a safe, inclusive campus by addressing discrimination, harassment, and accessibility concerns. They handle reports, provide accommodations, and offer training to support fairness, respect, and equal opportunity for all students.
