Clean out your children’s closet – or a local clothing outlet – to help us collect winter coats for new UNL international students with children!

You can help keep children warm this winter by donating new or gently used coats and winter gear for kids ages 2T–12. Great places to find coats to donate include retail clothing stores, your own closet or storage unit, your child’s outgrown wardrobe, consignment shops, thrift or resale stores, yard sales, or directly through our Amazon Wish List for Coats for Kids. Everyone is welcome to contribute – alumni, faculty, staff, parents, local residents, businesses, community supporters, civic and social organizations, and nonprofit, charitable, and religious groups. Your support makes a difference!

FAQ

Can I drop off my donated items prior to the designated days in July?

No, unfortunately.

Storage space for the coat inventory is not available until July 7. Volunteers are being mobilized to be on hand for these specific days to assist with drop-off, inspection, and cataloging of each item.

If you have an item to donate but unavailable to bring it July 7-11, send a message to internationalnavigators@unl.edu to arrange a day and time for drop-off to happen after July 14.

I don't have a coat to donate, but I want to help - what do I do?

We are happy to work with you to benefit the children in a way that works for you. Here are ways you can give the gift of warmth:

  • Purchase items from the Coats for Kids Wishlist
  • Provide gift cards to Walmart, Target, Burlington, or other retail stores
