Dear Global Nebraska Community:

Maegan Stevens-Liska

Looking back at the successes and accomplishments of 2023, I continue to be encouraged by, and proud of, the perseverance of our UNL students, faculty, and staff. Each year was a year filled with moments when we settled into our “new normal” and the Global Nebraska team and our community rose to the challenge in impressive ways.

This report highlights the progress we’ve continued to make on the university’s first-ever institutional global strategy, Forward Together. Our efforts to expand our global impact through the hard work of our students, faculty, staff, alumni, local community, and international partners have not slowed, and we are eager to share some of this year’s highlights.

As you read the enclosed stories of new partnerships from around the world, see real-world examples of our students and faculty conducting research that will undoubtedly change the world and learn about our new — and re-doubled — efforts to better support our students as we come out of a global pandemic, I hope you will see that all of these efforts align as we continue to advance our mission of education, research and engagement to shape the world around us, both locally and globally. I’m proud to say that Nebraska has found and continued to build on our momentum in strengthening global engagement and education.

There is more work ahead as we continue to elevate international education at UNL, but, with your support, we are excited to continue our momentum into the next year as we move forward, together.
